Summer Fun

We have been trying to find places to go for the boys to enjoy the summer and play in the water without going to a pool.  Splash pads seem to be the answer.  We found this one a few weeks ago and it's about a mile from our house.  Gabe loved it right away, Bennett sat and watched.  Then he joined in the fun.

San Antonio Days 6,7, and 8

Finally finishing up our trip.  It was very busy every day, so when things slowed down towards the end I was pretty happy.  On Thursday we had lunch play date plans and dinner play date plans with former co-workers and friends of mine.

For lunch we met my friend Amanda, she and I worked in the same group at Frost & Sullivan.  We bonded over hating the job, our bosses and even lived in the same apartment complex for a bit.  What is even more fun, is that our boys (Gabe and Andrew) are a little over a month apart in age.  We met up at Willie's for burgers and let the boys play in the big sandbox.  I have zero pictures of any of this...shocking.  We caught up and compared how the boys are growing.  Both boys had a lot of fun playing and chasing the birds.  Towards the end, we tried for a group picture, however Gabriel had enough and the pictures that Amanda got Gabe is screaming.  It's fun leaving a place with a kicking and screaming 2 year old...It's so tough being a toddler.

We got back to my parents and the boys napped.  Scott and I ran a couple errands and a Starbucks day date for some relaxing.

For dinner we loaded up the boys and heads to Bigz Burgers for dinner to meet Kendra and Jason.  Jason and I worked together at Frost & Sullivan, our group hung out at many after work happy hours - we all hated the job.  They have a little boy(Charlie) a year younger than Gabe and a year older than Bennett.

We got there early and hung out eating French fries, straw wrappers and drinking milk.

We had a great time catching up and then letting the boys play in the big field area behind the restaurant. Next time we go, I'm bringing a soccer ball for Gabe to play.

On Friday it was my mom's birthday.  My mom and I went to lunch at Pam's Patio then did a little shopping while Scott hung out at the house with the boys.

Before we left on Saturday we went to check out a new playground that was built after I moved.  We had a lot of fun.

We drove from San Antonio to Tulsa on the way home.  We stopped in Dallas to visit my friend Kelly.  Plus, Scott and I needed a night's sleep before finishing up the trip.

San Antonio - Day 5

I'm sure everyone is getting a little sick of the day by day vacation pictures, but I took a lot (shocking).  There are too many to pick from and it's really picture overload.

On Wednesday we headed up to Fredericksburg, TX.  I've wanted to go up there with Scott since one of our first trips down here.  We got close a couple Christmas's ago, but didn't get to stop.  We loaded up the car and headed to the Hill Country.  The drive itself is so pretty and makes the 40 minutes worthwhile.  No pics while driving - major life changing discussions happening.  My parents met us up there.  We took off down Main St. and walk in and out of shops and just enjoyed small town Texas.

We found a park to play in while my mom went into to more shops.  Scott found a local coffee place and Bennett is now working on his walking skills (8 months old!).

After Fredericksburg, we headed down the road to Luckenbach, TX.  It's a very small town and if you don't turn right, you miss it.  Scott and I went there a couple years ago and wanted to explore in warmer weather.  Plus, we needed some new t-shirts for us and the boys. And it is always worth stopping in, you never know who will be singing when you stop in and lots of great stories by the musicians.

Future Star?
Once we got back from our trip, it was nap time and time to relax and play.  Our goal was play hard in the mornings, sleep in the afternoons.  It worked well most of the trip.  Scott and I had a little date night on Wednesday as well.  I'd been wanting to check out the area around the Pearl Brewery.   A lot of renovations, shops, restaurants have gone in since I've moved or even last visited.

We were wanting some real Mexican food, no more Alamo CafĂ© (we went twice).  We found a little tapas place that was great.

And we had to stop by the Alamo
We did walk the RiverWalk...It's one of those things you have to do.  Glad we did, but I'm not bringing the boys down there any time soon.  We did stop at Durty Nellie's for some live music - piano bar style.  It was a nice relaxing night out that was needed.
