Crawling!

It's official, we have a crawler!  Bennett has been keeping us on our toes lately.  All baby gates are back in position.  This kid is fast too.  It took a coupe days for him to realize what he was doing, but now he is moving full force.

Along with crawling he does try to stand.  He will get in a bear crawl position and try to move.  He is pulling himself up and moving his feet forward for easier standing.  It's just a matter of time before he is walking.

Just gotta catch my brother!

School Picnic Time

We had a wonderful time at the St. Gabriel school picnic.  First, we went to donut drive-in on our way to the parade.  This is a great tradition that we have started.  And like last year, we saw Uncle Robbie and got a balloon before the parade started.  Then we found our spot and watched the beginning of the parade.

Bennett was thrilled by the parade

Once the last police car passed by, we packed up and walked to the other side of the park to watch the parade again. Once we got to the other side we were able to catch the beginning with the police car rolling by.  And Gabe learned a thing or two from Uncle Robbie on how to get the candy.

After the parade we made our way over to the rides.  We got our tickets and tried to figure out which ride we were going on first.  We ran into a few friends from the neighborhood and their kids.  It is always so much fun to catch up with everyone, even if it was in between rides.

Gabe went on the Merry Go Round first.  He was a little nervous when he got on there, but soon warmed up.

Can't go on the rides, no worries I'll nap

After the Merry Go Round, we went to the Crazy School Bus.  It was crazy in the fact that only 1 side had windows and the other was sealed up plastic.  It was insanely hot in there.  However, I think Gabe had the most fun in there.  Just look that the joy on his face.

After the Crazy Bus we got in line for the motorcycles.

Since Bennett was still sleeping and the heat and fun was slowing Gabe down.  This would be our last ride.  Gabe didn't fuss too much when it was time to leave.  We got some extra water in the school then headed to the car.  It was another great school picnic in the books.

Nap Time

On Sunday Scott we to the baseball game with his dad and that left me home with the boys.  Bennett took an early nap which was amazing.  Gabe was fighting nap time.  We read books and rocked and he went to bed.

Shortly after he was in his room, Bennett and I were in the basement hanging out when I heard little foot steps get out of bed.  Then I heard "Mom" then "Mommy?"  And I ignored and hoped he would go back to sleep.  He was exhausted at this point.  Then it was silent.

I finished folding some clothes and went to check on Gabe.  This is what I found.

Splash Zone

Since it's getting pretty hot in the afternoons and Gabe's nap time ends around 2, we have been looking for fun and quick things to do before dinner.  This past weekend we took Gabe back up to the splash pad near the playground at Creve Couer Park.  Gabe had so much fun the last time were there so we figured it would be a great way to burn some energy and get outside.
Sitting and wishing he could play
We dressed him up in his swim suit and sunscreen and headed up there.  There were a few bigger kids playing when were got there and it took him a while to warm up, but once he figured it out he was a happy boy.

Why can't I play?

Check out that kick!

Bennett and I sat on the grass in the shade just people watching and pulling on the grass.  I think B wished he was out there playing too.

Gabriel's Gymnastics

I have been looking for a class for Gabe to join.  He gets interaction with other kids at daycare but I felt he needed to have another teacher and set of rules to follow.  He loves to go to the gym with Scott and play around, so we thought gymnastics would be a great fit for him.  We found Miss Kelly's Gym and signed him up.

Last Saturday Gabe had his first class.  Scott went in and joined the fun while Bennett and I hung out and watched.  Gabriel was very nervous at the beginning and wasn't sure about signing and playing with the bells.  Then it was free time.  He was able to climb around and try all the fun gym equipment.  Of course the teacher was there to guide him and show him the proper way to use it.  He still did his own thing.  When he actually participated with the class he received a lot of cheers.

loved the balance beam

he ran back and forth in this forever

He was awesome at basketball

BUBBLES!

Overall he had a great time.  I'm hoping that the repetition of classes every Saturday will help him warm up.  And it's been great for inducing nap time.
