Dryer

Remember a couple weeks ago when I casually mentioned the dryer was on fire, our gas dryer?  Well after some great bargain shopping at the Sears Outlet we found a new dryer.  It had no scratches, dents and was still under manufactures warranty.

It was delivered and come to find out we don't have gas dryer hookups.  We have electric...So it was back to Sears for another new dryer.  Again, we found a brand new dryer (still in the box) for a huge discount.

The drivers just left the house and the boys clothes are in the washer.  It's so nice having a dryer that will be big enough for a king comforter.  I wish they would match, but really, who cares?

I feel so old because I'm excited for a new toy...even if it is a new appliance.  But I'll take it.

Roll Over

Bennett is so close to rolling over.  He is getting so frustrated that he is unable to move his arm.  But in the mean time he is super cute kicking and playing on the floor.

This past weekend Gabe and Bennett were playing together with Legos.  I see this getting crazier and louder as they get older.  But it was so nice to see them starting to interact with each other.  Bennett is beginning to look up to Gabe and follow what he does.  We could be in some serious trouble with these two.

And just one more of that cute little guy loving tummy time.

Bennett's Baptism

Getting ready for his special day

Bennett is officially Catholic.  We had his Baptism this past weekend and he was a champ.  Thankfully there were only 2 babies being baptized this weekend for Gabriel's sake.  Gabe did a decent job of staying quiet throughout the ceremony, that was helped by Nana walking around and showing him all the candles in the church.
Waiting for the ceremony to start

Bennett was great.  He let Scott hold him throughout the entire ceremony and only let out one squeal.  We had a different priest than the one who baptized Gabriel.  This priest commented a couple times on how old the gown was and how interesting to know that it was worn by Bennett's Grandfather (Papa John).

After the ceremony we chatted with the priest a little bit then head down to Scott's parents house for lunch and cake.

Swing

It finally happened.  Gabe sat on the swing and enjoyed us pushing him for a little while.  This is HUGE.  All summer and fall, and every trip to the playground in between,  Gabe would look at the swings and say he wanted to get in and then freak out.

This past weekend, we stopped by a park and there were other kids swinging.  He decided to give it a shot.  He liked it and stayed for a few minutes.  I think he is just too busy of a kid to want to be stuck in one place for too long.  But I couldn't be happier for him to try the swings.

Spring!

It's finally getting warmer here and we are spending as much time outside as we can.  Last weekend we went to 2 different playgrounds and Gabe had a blast.  On Saturday, we played in the backyard for a long time, then cleaned up and went to the playground by our house.  Gabe made a friend and he was chasing him around.  It was so cute to see Gabe interact with the little boy.

On Sunday, while we did laundry, Gabe and I went to Bee Tree Park.  They had a great playground and slide that Gabe loved.  Over the winter they tore it down and rebuilt a playground that is a little too much for Gabe at his age.

We tried to play for a while but he was overwhelmed and moving too slow for the big kids.  So we walked from the playground down to the lake and then I had to carry him back.  Gabe and I had a lot of fun, just him and I.

And since the warm weather has continued into the week, we've been waiting outside for Daddy to come home from work.

So happy for warm weather!

Things in 3

Things really do happen in threes.  At least for us, it seems, that is the rule of thumb.  Remember back in September/October when we were redoing the flooring?  The washer went out, then the refrigerator, then the flooring issues.  Well it's happened again.

First our garage door wouldn't open last Wednesday.  I'm pretty sure one of the springs broke and so we have a manual garage door for a while.  Then Saturday night, I randomly decided to check the dryer before going to bed.  The back of the dryer was on fire....Yes, the gas dryer had flames in the back of it.  And finally, Scott's back windshield shattered on his drive to work on Monday morning.

So, as it stands the garage door will most likely need to be replaced.  It's old, rusted and we get a nice puddle inside the garage on one side.

With the dryer, we need a new one.  After I blew out the flames and we googled what to do when your dryer is on fire, we called the Fire Department.  They arrived quickly and checked to see if there was any heat coming off of it and unplugged it for us.  We were very lucky nothing worse could have happened.  But that didn't stop our us from thinking of all the possibilities of what could have happened.  And it will be happy dryer shopping for us this weekend.

We've already replaced the back windshield.  There was no way we could have waited another day.  It actually caved in once Scott arrived at the repair shop.  Hopefully, we won't have to replace anything else in our house for a while.

4 Months

How is it possible that this little guy is 4 months old already?  I know it must sound like a broken record, but this kid is growing up so fast.  He is getting very close to rolling over on his own.  He loves to watch his brother playing and somehow sleeps through the crazy, loudness that is Gabe.

Bennett is by far a very happy baby.  He rarely cries.  He is almost always eager to give you a great big smile.  Within the last week he has found his vocal cords.  It's a lot of fun to listen to him squeal, but we could do without the 5am squeals(this is where the smiles really help).

Hands in the mouth at all times

The best early morning smile

We have started the wonderful 4 month old sleep regression phase.  Bennett went from sleeping through the night to waking at least twice for feeding.  We did have a little RSV run through the house and he didn't let it slow him down much.  He still has a slight cough when waking up.  We cannot wait for it to warm up so we can hang out in the front yard waiting for Daddy to get home from work.  And we can't wait to open the windows and turn off the stuffy heat, we've had constant stuffed up noses in our house.  It tends to make for some interesting sneezes.

Day of Firsts

As cabin fever sets in, we are desperately trying to come up with new, fun activities in the house. After a decent snow in Saturday night, we woke up Sunday and tried to figure out the days fun.

Scott ran to the store for ingredients to make crepes.  They, as well as, blueberries and cool whip are a big hit with Gabe.

Please no pictures while I eat
After breakfast, Scott and Gabe made a fort.  Gabriel was in heaven.  He sat in there for an hour watching Mator Tales on the iPad.

After fort building there was a Target run for boots.  Gabriel has been in the snow, but never had the chance to really play in it.  So, for about 45 minutes he played.  Scott taught him to throw snowballs, build a snowman and some sledding.  I wasn't too sure he'd like the cold, but he was running around and even made a snow angel.
all bundled up for 5 minutes outside

Bennett and I were outside for a little bit.  Enough for a picture and a breathe of fresh air.

After playing in the snow it was time for movies, first hot cocoa and baking cookies.  I don't have a picture of Gabe drinking the hot chocolate.  He wasn't too sure about it at first.  He took a couple sips and the movie was way more entertaining.  It was a busy day and lots of firsts for Gabe.
