Huge NEWS!

About a month and half ago I decided to take a little to test to see what would happen. I didn't think in my wildest dreams that it would be positive. I was just thinking, why not take it and see what happens. Well, here we are 11 weeks in and we could not be more thrilled to announce that we are expecting a baby to arrive early February!

Let's just go back to the test porcess, because it was a process. I decided on a whim that I would take a test as soon as I got home from work. To my surprise it was positive. Scott was still at work and working late that night. I decided to take a picture and send it to him. Then I messaged him on gChat. He was, I think, a little more shocked than I was.

Of course we decided that more tests needed to be taken before we think any further. So I ran to the store bought more and then the roofer showed up. I waited till he left and for the rest of the night I took 2 more tests. All came back positive but one was a little lighter colored than the others. So 4 tests later we really decided that it was time to call the doctor and get an appointment.



We have been able to get the first pictures of the baby back on June 26 and heard the heart beating. It was a great appointment. Everything is looking good and we go back in a week to check on the status.

I couldn't be happier to be coming to an end of the first trimester. Five weeks of feeling horrible is really enough. Thankfully, I've only gotten sick once and so far only 3 migraines. The migraines have been my biggest concern since I can't really take my normal medicine to help me get through them. So far tynelol and immediate sleep has been the cure.

So, I'm sure there will be more updates as time goes on and as we prep for baby A.

The heat is on

Well, it seems like we are back to the 100s for the next week or so.  Just when we thought it was cooling down a bit (mid 90s), we are hit again with ridiculous heat.  I guess this is what we get for have such an awesome winter.

I do find it funny that my mom came up here from San Antonio and it's hotter here than it is down there.  And they are actually getting rain.  Something that we, in the Midwest, desperately need.  Oh, well time to count down till fall.

Lantern Festival

I've been hearing about the Lantern Festival at Missouri Botanical Gardens since January.  I knew they were bringing in hundreds of people from China to recreate the lanterns and even have booths of art and clothing to buy.

We decided that the Saturday that my mom arrived was a cool enough night to check it out.  Clearly everyone in St. Louis thought the exact same thing.  We arrived around 7:20 and waited in line for tickets and then waited till 8 for the lights to come on.  It was well worth the wait and the crowds.

Each display was amazing.  The colors and materials that were used were detailed and looked so simply put together.  I don't think I can describe it better so I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Bathroom

It's official we have finally painted the bathroom one color and it looks great!  We had picked out the color about 7 months ago and never really wanted to paint it.  But with my mom's upcoming visit I figured it was time to get rid of the beige bathroom and add some color.



I was able to tape the room and get everything taken down and then headed out to the pool while Scott sanded and put two coats of paint up.  The blue color we chose was perfect and I could not be happier to see the shower curtain and towel pop.

 

Cinnamon

I love cinnamon rolls.  If Cinnabon was a little more convenient it would lead to all sorts of trouble.  It's very hard to walk pass one at the airport and not get one.  That being said, I've been waiting some cinnamon rolls.  Every time I'm in the grocery store and walk pass the tubes I think, those would be great to make.

So I decided to see what Pinterest had to offer in the way of making homemade rolls.  I figured anything we made would be way better than the tubes.  I found a recipe and we picked everything up from the store and Sunday morning Scott made me some cinnamon rolls.  I helped a little, reading the instructions and making the cinnamon filling.  It was tough work on my part.

4th of July

I love the 4th of July, I love fireworks.  On a typical 4th of July I like to go to a Cardinals game, Fair St. Louis (VP Fair) check out the air show, and stay for fireworks under the Arch.  How lucky are we to watch fireworks under a national monument?!



This year was a little different.  We are in the middle of a week-long heat wave.  The temperatures have been over 100 for 5 days in a row.  It's miserable to be outside.  So we decided that it would be better if we just stayed home, BBQed and watched the baseball game on TV.

We hung out at home, took our time cleaning the house up and decided to go to Weekend's Only to look at furniture, since they were having a great sale on a couch.  Once we walked into the doors my eyes decided they had enough and I was getting a migraine.  So much fun looking at colors and fabrics when you can't really see.  We quickly walked through the store and back home.  I was off to bed for 2 hours.  So much for a fun 4th.  I survived the headache and forced myself to stay awake to watch the live video of the fireworks under the Arch on the news.

Maybe next year it will be a better 4th.

Chicago!

I've been wanting to see the play Chicago for some time.  Probably after the movie came out, I decided that was another play I should see.  Even though I never saw the movie, probably to my benefit, the play was finally being shown in St. Louis at the Muny.



I love going to the Muny, the whole experience of seeing live plays, outside, on a stage that is the largest outside stadium.  Due to the insane heat wave we have been dealing with we decided not to arrive early and walk around Forest Park.  Instead we got there about 15 minutes before the play started, walked to the Muny and found our seats.  The seats I paid for were in the center and I could see over the people in front of me and it was painfully hot.  We waiting a bit and scoped out some seats on the side sections that were almost completely open.

The play was great.  I was excited to finally get to see Chicago and the play looked much better than the movie.  Once intermission came a long I was over heated and falling asleep.  We decided it was best if we left them and catch the play at the Fox or when it wasn't 100 at 9PM.
